The Korean automobile manufacturer has expanded its electric SUV portfolio with the Hyundai Inster. This electric compact SUV has its underpinnings as the ICE-based Hyundai Casper, but the former measures differently.
That said, the Inster has a longer wheelbase of 180mm and boasts a longer length of 230mm than the Casper. Besides that, the former is more feature-loaded than the latter.
Hyundai Inster: Exterior
While being larger than the Casper, the Hyundai Insper also has a distinctive, futuristic, and bold styling. It incorporates robust fenders, bold skid plates, advanced circuit board-style bumper, pixel-graphic turn signals, and tail lights.
It also has a split LED headlamp setup- main lights on the upper section of the front bumper and circle-shaped LED DRLs on the lower section of the front bumper.
Depending on the chosen variant, the Hyundai Insetr can be had with either 15-inch steel wheels, 15-inch alloy wheels, or 17-inch alloy wheels.
Given the shape and size of this Hyundai electric compact SUV, it should be safe to assume that this vehicle will be practical and easy to drive and park in tight places.
Hyundai Inster: Specifications
It is confirmed that the Hyundai Inster will have two powertrains on offer: Standard and Long Range. The former has a 42kWh battery pack, alongside a single electric motor, which churns out 94bhp and 147Nm of torque, and has a claimed range of 300 kilometres.
In parallel, the Long Range version has a larger 49kWh battery pack, which releases a peak power of 111.4bhp. Having a larger battery pack means more range, standing at 355 kilometres.
This Korean electric compact SUV can be charged from 10% to 80% within thirty minutes via the optional 120 kW DC fast charger.
The normal charger takes 4 hours to charge the Standard variant, whereas the Long Range variant takes 4 hours and 35 minutes with the 11 kW AC charger. In addition to that, the V2L support enables the bidirectional charging of other devices, such as camping gear and e-bikes.
Hyundai Inster: Interior
As per the image, the Hyundai Inster looks plush from the inside. It draws some design elements from its elder sibling, the Hyundai IONIQ 5. Similar elements include the 12.5-inch digital screens (infotainment and instrument cluster) and three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel.
Further, this SUV also has a sunroof, 64-colour ambient lighting, a wireless charger, auto HVAV, electrically adjustable seats, connected car technology, and a premium audio system.
On the safety front, the Inster has a level-2 ADAS suite, a 360-degree camera, parking sensors, traction control, hill assist, high-beam assist, airbags, ISOFIX child-seat anchorages, and ABS with EBD.
The detailed list of features and specifications will be declared once the vehicle is launched.
Hyundai Inster: Availability
The company states that it will first launch the Hyundai Inster in Korea, followed by European markets, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific. Once launched in India, the Hyundai Inster will take the likes of the Tata Punch EV and Citroen eC3.
