Hyundai India is all set to bring their third electric vehicle, the Creta EV to the Indian market by January next year. Tarun Garg, the company’s CEO, confirms this launch timeline at a recent press interaction. The brand has five mass-market electric vehicles in the pipeline and the Creta EV will be the first. Creta EV’s production is most likely to be completed by the end of 2024 which further confirms the launch date of early next year.

Hyundai Creta EV Design

The brand will most likely produce Creta EVs at the same plant as the ICE Creta and both cars are expected to share a lot of components to keep the EV’s pricing as low as possible. However, the Creta EV will have a closed grille, aerodynamically enhanced alloy wheels, revised bumpers and more on the exterior part. The interior is also expected to receive a different steering wheel and, revised centre console because it won’t have a conventional transmission and gear lever that’s why the interior design should be significantly different from the current ICE Creta.

Hyundai Creta EV Performance

Hyundai Creta EV is supposed to borrow its motor from the global Kona electric’s entry-level variant. The front-mounted motor will be producing around 138hp and 255Nm and it will put all the power down via the front wheels. To power the vehicle there will be a 45kWh battery pack. Similar to the Hyundai Kona, the Creta EV will also have a front-mounted charging port. The battery capacity of the Hyundai Creta EV (45kWh) is slightly smaller than the MG ZS EV (50kWh) and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki eVX (48-60kWh).

Hyundai Creta EV Launch and Pricing Details

Tarun also said, "So all these learnings [from sales of the Ioniq and Kona Electric] will help us to make sure that we have a winning product as we go along. And of course, as we introduce more and more EVs in the Indian market. We have already announced five EVs by 2030."

There are no details about this car’s pricing but depending on the leaked information we can expect the Hyundai Creta EV to be priced somewhere near the Rs 25 lakh mark. This is just my speculation actual pricing figure may be entirely different from this when the vehicle officially breaks cover in the January 2025.
