On its 10th anniversary (2023), Ather launched a special edition scooter named, 450 Apex. This scooter comes with a unique colourway and brings a host of new features.

Just so you know, the Ather 450 Apex will be produced for a limited period of time. Given that, it should be safe to call it a “Limited Edition.”

So, without wasting time, let’s take a look at the offerings of the Ather 450 Apex.

Build & Design

The Ather 450 Apex is the third iteration from Ather’s 450 series, which is also built on the existing, ‘Ather 450’ platform, but has its own identity.

The Indian two-wheeler manufacturer offers this limited edition product in an exclusive matte blue colour, named Indium Blue. Interestingly, Indium Blue is a recently discovered shade of blue.

Besides that, the 2024 Ather 450 Apex has a transparent panel at the rear that shows the orange-coloured internal frame (chassis) of the scooter which is made of aluminum and steel. This orange is the same Pantone Orange that can be seen on KTM bikes.

The seat height of the scooter is 780mm, which should be ideal, while the scooter weighs 111.6 kg.

Performance

The electric motor propelling the Ather 450 Apex has 7KW (9.38hp) of power and 26Nm of torque. These figures allow the scooter to sprint from 0 to 40 km/h in just 2.9 seconds! Yes, it’s definitely quick. However, the top speed remains at 100 km/h, which is faster than its 450-series derivatives, thanks to the new and exclusive ‘Warp+’ ride mode.

Comparatively, the OLA S1 Pro can do 0-40 km/h within 2.6 seconds and has a top speed of 120 km/h, making it 0.3 seconds quicker than the Ather 450 Apex.

Battery & Range

Powering things up here is a 3.7kWh lithium-ion battery and a 7kW motor with a certified range of 157kms. And, as far as the charging is concerned, the company claims that it takes 5.45 hrs to fully replenish the Ather 450 Apex’s battery with a standard charger.

However, the Ather 450 Apex covers a certified distance of 75 kilometres, 90 kilometres, 95 kilometres, and 110 kilometers in Warp+, Sport, Ride, and Economy, respectively.

These are Ather’s claimed ranges.

As mentioned, the real-life range may differ from the claimed range, depending on the individual’s riding style.

The battery pack is IP67 rated, and the water-wading capacity of the scooter is 300mm.

Brakes, Suspension, and Tyres

For braking, the Ather 450 Apex has a 200mm disc at the front and a 190mm disc at the rear.

This indigenous two-wheeler also benefits from the presence of Combined Braking System (CBS).

As for the suspension, it has telescopic forks at the front and a mono-shock setup at the rear.

The 450 Apex gets a 12-inch alloy wheel on both ends with the same Pantone Orange color, matching the frame of the scooter.

The Ather 450 Apex has a tyre profile of 90/90 R12 and 100/80 R12 at the front and rear, respectively. Both tyres are tubeless.

With these offerings, the Ather 450 Apex has a ground clearance of 170mm.

Noteworthy Offerings

Some of the noteworthy features of the Ather 450 Apex include LED lights at the front and rear, hill assist, anti-theft system, hazard warning indicator, central locking system, side-stand alarm, etc. Further, it packs park assist, reverse mode, pass light, and a mobile app connectivity.

The Ather 450 Apex also gets a seven-inch IP 65-rated TFT touch-screen instrument cluster, which has Android Open Source OS that runs on the Snapdragon 212 Quad-core processor.

This screen has a resolution of 800x480 pixels and a maximum brightness of 800 nits, making the screen adequately bright for outdoor visibility.

Furthermore, this electric two-wheeler supports Ather Connect which gives you features like ‘Toe and Theft’ notification, ‘Find My Scooter’, ‘Ride Stats’, ‘Inbuilt Google Maps’, etc., on your phone. The over-the-air (OTA) updates are also available.

Last, but not least, there is also Ather’s Magic Twist system. It is something new and unique to the Ather 450 Apex. It is a regenerative braking system, but it includes a unique way of enabling it. You have to move the throttle handlebar in the opposite direction to slow down the scooter or bring it to a complete halt.
