Bajaj and Hero dominate the Indian market with their daily commuter bikes; Bajaj has recently introduced the Bajaj Freedom CNG, but petrol bikes still hold a significant market share. And, that is tacit, as the Bajaj Freedom 125 is the world's first CNG bike, plus CNG-based two-wheelers will take time to capture the market share.
The Society of India Automotive Manufacturers (SIAM) has released two-wheeler sales figures for June 2024, and in this list, it was surprising to see that not a single EV bike secured a place in the top ten.
Here is a list of India's best-selling bikes:
Hero Splendour Plus
The Hero Splendour Plus is one of the most popular commuter bikes, and it has maintained its position even in June 2024. In that month, Hero sold 2,84,190 units of this bike.
A 97.2-cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine powers the bike, producing 8.02 PS and 8.05 Nm of torque. According to Hero, this machine can run approximately 90 km on one litre of fuel.
Hero is currently offering six variants of the Splendour Plus, and the base version starts from Rs 75,441 (ex-showroom).
Honda Shine 125
Not all 100-cc bikes win the race. In June 2024, the Honda Shine 125 has secured the second-best-selling bike title. Unlike other fancy 125cc bikes, the Honda Shine 125 maintains a single commuter design and boasts a 123.49-cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 10.74 PS and 11 Nm of torque.
Compared to other 125cc bikes, the price of this one is quite competitive. Honda sells this bike in two variants, out of which, the base variant starts from Rs 80,250 (ex-showroom). In June 2024, Honda sold 1,39,587 units of the homegrown Shine 125.
Hero HF Deluxe
The Hero HF Deluxe holds the third position, having 89,941 units sold in June 2024. This model bears a striking resemblance to the Hero HF Deluxe, albeit with a distinct appearance.
This 100cc bike has a starting ex-showroom price of Rs 59,998. The Hero HF Deluxe has a 97.2-cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 8.02 PS and 8.05 Nm of torque.
Bajaj Pulsar 125
This is one of Bajaj's oldest and most reliable products. The Pulsar 125 comes in two variants: the Pulsar 125 and the Pulsar NS125 (sporty looks). The Pulsar combines the features of a commuter vehicle with cheerful performance.
The Pulsar 125's 124.4-cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine generates 11.8 PS and 10.9 Nm of torque, whereas the Pulsar NS125's 124.45-cc air-cooled engine produces 11.99 PS and 11 Nm of torque.
In June 2024, Bajaj Motors sold 63,586 units of the Pulsar 125.
Bajaj Platina
This bike is famous for its mileage, and its sales figures include both the Platina 100 and the Platina 110. Two similar models differ only in terms of power figures. The Platina 100 comes with a 102-cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that produces 7.9 PS and 8.3 Nm of torque.
In contrast, a 115.45-cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine powers the Platina 110, which produces 8.6 PS and 9.81 Nm of torque.
The Bajaj Platina 110 is the only bike in the 110cc segment to feature disc brakes and ABS on the front.
In June 2024, Bajaj sold 33,101 units of this bike.
