Ather’s family scooter, Rizta has finally been launched in India. This scooter has been made for the masses, unlike Ather's 450-series scooters. Bookings for the Ather Rizta have commenced. Customers can book this family scooter at the nearest dealership or via Ather's website. Deliveries will start from June 2024 onwards.

Ather Rizta: Pricing, Variants and Performance

There are two variants on offer: Rizta S and Rizta Z. The Rizta S has only one variant, priced at Rs 1,09,999 (ex-showroom) with a 2.9 kWh battery pack. The Rizta Z has two variants: a 2.9 kWh battery pack version and a 3.7 kWh battery priced at Rs 1,24,999 and Rs 1,44,999, respectively. All are introductory ex-showroom prices.

In terms of design, both Rizta models look identical, however, they can be differentiated by colour options. The base variant has three monotone colours: Siachen White Mono, Deccan Grey Mono and Pangong Blue Mono. The top 'Z' model has carried over the monotone colours from the base variant and has additional dual-tone colours: Pangong Blue DT, Cardomom Green, Alphonso Yellow, and Deccan Grey.

The design looks premium and in-line with new-age ongoing scooters because of the round edges and curved body panels. Ather has used a heavily-designed 450 series frame here, giving Rizta a wider architecture to make a comfortable and spacious seat for the rider and the pillion. The bigger platform has also allowed the brand to provide 35 litres of under-seat storage. There is an optional accessory to add 22 litres of frunk (front trunk) storage. The Rizta’s seat height is 780mm. Plus it has 400mm water-wading capacity, alongside a ground clearance of 165mm. The scooter weighs 119 kg.

The Ather Rizta has become the first Indian electric scooter to boast a traction control system. It also has a big 7-inch touchscreen driver display. The base variant gets a Cortex Series processor, 8GB storage, and 1GB RAM and it runs on Real Time Operating System (RTOS). The top variant has a Snapdragon 212 Quadcore 1.3 GHz processor with 16GB storage and 2GB of RAM and it runs on Android Open Source OS (AOSP). The screen gets an IP 65 rating on all the scooters. Ather has given two riding modes on Rizta, a high-performance mode called 'Zip' and there is an economical SmartEco mode to extract the maximum range.

The motor propelling the Ather Rizta produces 4.3 kW of power and 22 Nm of torque. The claimed top speed is 80 kph with a 0-40 kph time of 4.7 seconds. The 2.9 kWh variants get an IDC claimed range of 123 km whereas the 3.7 kWh variant gets 160 km. Both scooters are supplied with a 350W Ather Portable charger, which can charge the base two variants from 0 to 80% in 6 hours and 40 minutes and 0 to 100% in 8 hours and 40 minutes. The top variant gets a 700W Ather Duo charger that charges the scooter from 0 to 80% in 4 hours 30 minutes and 0 to 100% in 6 hours and 10 minutes. Other than these home chargers, customers also have the option to use Ather’s 1800+ charging points throughout the country.

Accessories and Warranty

Ather is also providing some interesting accessories with the Rizta. There is a multipurpose charger that can be installed in the under-seat storage area, alongside a storage organiser, a frunk accessory, and more. The brand is offering a 3-year or 30,000 km warranty on the battery and the scooter. But the battery’s warranty can be extended to 5 years / 60 000 km with Ather Battery Protect.
