We all perceive Ather as a performance-oriented sporty electric scooter manufacturer, but things will change soon. Ather is adding a new family-friendly scooter to its lineup, which will be known as, the Ather Rizta. This scooter will be targeting the mass-market consumers who want a simple day-to-day commuter. The Rizta has been spotted testing multiple times and now that we know the official unveiling is on April 6, 2024, let’s check out some of the key details of this scooter.

Build and Design

The main reason for making this scooter was to break Ather’s image as a sporty scooter manufacturer. That’s why it will look miles apart from the brand’s ongoing 450 series scooters. From spy images and teasers shown by the brand, we can clearly see that this scooter will have a flat seat flat footboard, and a conventional design for an easy and comfortable riding experience.

Features

Although the brand is presenting this as a conventional family-friendly scooter, we can expect Ather to give it a touchscreen dashboard equipped with features like smartphone connectivity, inbuilt Google Maps, and more. Features like an Antilock Breaking System (ABS), IP67 grade battery pack, all LED lights, alloy wheels, and front disc brake are most likely to make their way onto the Ather Rizta.

Performance

Despite having a drastically different build and design from its 450 siblings, the Rizta is most likely to share performance components like battery and motor with them. Battery capacity and other technical details are still behind the curtains. However, the brand has showcased a test mule crossing 400mm deep water on their website, thereby proving the IP67- grade battery unit.

Pricing and Rivals

Ather’s most affordable scooter, the 450S starts at Rs 1,15,000 (average ex-showroom) and Rizta is coming as a mass-market product to attract entry-level scooter buyers, so we can expect it to be priced aggressively. In my opinion, Ather will position this scooter between the 450S and 450X, as far as pricing is concerned. Pre-bookings for the Ather Rizta can be made by spending only Rs 999 via Ather's website.
