Ampere EV has launched their flagship product in the country, dubbed Nexus, a replacement of the Ampere Primus. This scooter was first introduced as the NXG concept at Auto Expo 2023. The brand is marketing this as a performance-oriented, mass-market scooter.
Ampere Nexus: Looks, Dimensions and Feature
The scooter has a wheelbase of 1319mm, a seat height of 765mm and the ground clearance of 170mm. The scooter looks modern yet elegant with its sharp-looking angular panels and overall slim profile. The headlamp along with DRLs is placed on the handlebar and the indicators are placed on the side panels on either side of the front wheel’s mudguard.
The scooter is offered in two variants, the entry-level variant is called Nexus EX and the top variant is named Nexus ST. The base variant gets features like a 6.2-inch PMVA screen for digital instrumentation. In contrast, the top variant gets a bigger 7-inch TFT screen with Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, and more. The scooter also has an all-LED lighting setup.
Ampere Nexus: Performance
The scooter gets a 3kWh LFP battery pack, a claimed range of 136km, a peak power of 4KW and a claimed top speed of 93kph. The scooter gets five riding modes (Eco, City, Power, Limp Home, and Reverse) and it also has hill hold functionality. The company claims its scooter offers the best-in-segment NVH levels, because of its exclusive hybrid swing arm design and mid-mounted motor setup.
The Ampere Nexus rolls on 12-inch alloy wheels on both ends, wrapped in 90/90 section tyres and the suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks on the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. The scooter gets a disc brake at the front while the rear is a drum unit.
Ampere Nexus: Pricing
The Ampere Nexus is offered in four colours, Zanskar Aqua, Lunar White, Steel Grey and Indian Red. Pricing for the scooter starts at Rs 1,09,900 for the base EX variant and the top-of-the-line ST variant is priced at Rs 1,19,900. Prices are introductory ex-showroom and are subject to change.
