The third BMW M5 Touring has now made a comeback. The initial M5 Touring were available in E34 and E61 models. The specific iteration in the touring guise is codenamed, G99, while the M5 sedan has the G90 moniker, which debuted in June 2024.

Highlights

Both models - sedan and touring - have the same M Hybrid engine with an all-wheel drive (xDrive) system. The other similarities are also there in terms of dimensions. The M5 Touring is just 6mm taller than its sedan, but they both have the same length and width.

In addition, both versions have an identical front wheelbase of 3006mm, rear wheelbase of 1684mm, and track width of 1660mm.

On the specifications front, the M5 Touring has identical configurations to its counterpart. That said, it continues to house a 4.4-litre, V8, twin-turbo, petrol engine with hybrid support, having a combined output of 717bhp and 1000Nm of peak torque.

The combustion engine alone produces 600bhp, while the electric motor unleashes the rest of the horses.

All the power is transferred to all four wheels as it has an xDrive system. The BMW M5 Touring has a top speed of 248kmph, but it can increased to 304kmph with the optional M Driver’s package.

The company claims that the new M5 Touring can sprint from 0-100kmph in 3.5 seconds, making it marginally slower than its sedan version’s 3.4 seconds. However, this new iteration can reach 200kmph in under 11.1 seconds.

In terms of features, the 2025 M5 Touring has a 14.9-inch central touchscreen infotainment unit and a 12.3-inch instrument cluster. Both are supported by BMW’s new 8.5 OS software.

There are also standard M Multifunction Seats, covered with Extended Merino leather. The trim inside is of aluminium rhombicle, but there is an optional Dark Oak Fine woodgrain or M Carbon Fibre with silver inserts.

Pricing

It is worth mentioning that the new M5 Touring G99 marked its global debut at Pebble Beach Automotive Week on August 15, 2024. The official launch is likely to take place later this year. The US-spec version is priced at USD 121,500 (around Rs 1.02 crore).

However, we are unsure if this touring version will make its way to India.
