Yamaha has launched the Aerox 155 Version S in India. The Aerox is Yamaha’s flagship scooter in the country and it now gets a keyless ignition system with the addition of 'Version S'. This scooter was first launched in India in 2021.

Changes in the New 'Version S'

The scooter now gets a keyfob instead of the regular key, and a knob instead of the key slot. It continues to get dedicated buttons near the knob for accessing the under-seat storage and opening the fuel filler cap. The keyfob can be used to locate the scooter in crowded parking lots, and darker situations. The user just needs to press a button on the keyfob, making the scooter flash its indicators with a chirping sound. You may have seen similar features on many cars, but now it is making its way to two-wheelers. Further, the Honda Activa H-smart has similar keyless features as the Yamaha Aerox 155 Version S.

Features

Apart from these additional features, the scooter continues to get the 155cc liquid-cooled four-valve engine which produces 14.8hp and 13.9Nm torque, LED head and tail lights, digital dashboard, smartphone connectivity, 230mm disc brake at the front and 130mm drum brake at the rear with single channel ABS, traction control, 110-section front and 140-section rear tubeless tyres and more.

Pricing and Variants

The Yamaha Aerox 155's price starts at Rs 1.47 lakh, making it the most expensive scooter in Yamaha’s current scooter lineup in the country. The Version S is priced Rs 3,000 higher than the standard Aerox, priced at Rs 1.50 lakh. All are ex-showroom figures.

The Aerox 155 Version S can only be bought in Silver or Metallic Blue colour schemes.

Yes, the scooter is a little expensive but offers a unique and stylish look, decent performance and good claimed fuel efficiency numbers. There are no direct rivals, but there are similarly priced alternatives, such as Vespa VXL 150, Ola S1 Pro and Ather 450X, to name a few.
