Maruti Suzuki Brezza: All You Need to Know

The Maruti Suzuki Brezza is one of the top-selling compact SUVs in the country and it has been there in the top charts since its launch. When Maruti discontinued the diesel variant in 2020 many people thought now the popularity would go away, but nothing like that has happened yet. It lacks a few modern features that competitors have but still, the Brezza sells in good numbers per month, giving its competitors a tough fight. 

Build and Design

The Maruti Suzuki Brezza is based on Suzuki's Global C-Platform like its previous generation model, which received 4 out of 5 stars in the Global NCAP crash test. This platform also underpins the old Vitara, new Grand Vitara and the S-Cross. It should be safe to state that the Global C-platform-based vehicles will also have an equivalent build quality. 

On the outside, it has a dual projector setup for the headlights, LED DRLs, and front LED indicators, alongside a foglamp housing on the lower front bumper. Further, the reverse lamp and rear indicators are halogens.

Aside from that, the 215/60 R16 is the size of the dual-tone-finished alloy wheels that look sporty. Since the carmaker has made this SUV for Indian roads- this vehicle should offer a comfortable ride quality. 

The car's overall look is very boxy, muscular, and upmarket with the roof-mounted rear spoiler, blacked-out pillars, and shark fin antenna. Lastly, it offers a black cladding that runs around the lower section of the vehicle. 

Interior & Features

Since the inception of the second-gen Maruti Suzuki Brezza, it became the first ever Maruti to get a sunroof. 

Further, the list continues with features like a cooled glovebox, auto-dimming IRVM, power windows, auto HVAC, and anti-glare mirrors (all). Inside the top-variant, it will have a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment screen that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay (both wireless). 

For convenience, this SUV has a 360-degree parking camera, a wireless charger, voice command, and more. It also has a 6-speaker Arkamys-sourced audio system with Bluetooth connectivity. The Brezza also has one USB-A and one USB-C port below the rear AC vent. But, the ongoing Maruti Brezza misses out on front ventilated seats, unlike its rivals. 

On the safety front, the indigenous carmaker has given 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, ESP, child-seat anchorages, brake assist, speed-sensing door lock, and so on.  

For storage, it has a 328-litre boot space, but the luggage space can be increased, thanks to the 60:40 split rear seats. 

Performance 

The Brezza gets a 1.5-litre, naturally aspirated, 4-cylinder, petrol engine with a smart hybrid system for better efficiency. This engine produces 102bhp of power and 136.8Nm of torque. It can either be had with a five-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter transmission. 

As for the suspension setup, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza stands on a McPherson strut with a coil spring at the front and a torsion beam with a coil spring at the rear. It has a disc-drum setup, and the top variant has a tyre profile of 215/60 R16. 

The Maruti Suzuki Brezza’s mileage ranges between 17.38 km/l and 19.89 km/l. The CNG version has a certified mileage of 25.51 km/kg. The figures will vary depending on the engine and transmission combination, and individuals’ driving styles. These are ARAI-claimed figures. 

Should you buy this?

The Maruti Suzuki Brezza’s price starts at Rs 8.34 lakh and goes up to Rs 14.14 lakh. Both are average ex-showroom prices, as of March 2024. Now, the top variant here is expensive but if the refinement and reliability of the Petrol engine is something that you want, then you can definitely place your bet on the Brezza. If you want a diesel car in this segment, you should consider its rivals.
