Hero MotoCorp’s flagship scooter, the Hero Destini 125, is going to make a comeback in the facelifted avatar. The launch date is yet to be announced, but industry reports indicate that this 125cc scooter will mark its debut next month in September 2024.

For those unfamiliar, the Hero Destini 125 first went on sale six years ago and since its inception, the homegrown two-wheeler has largely remained the same.

Highlights

The official teaser by the company hasn’t hinted anything, but the patented image suggests that the updated Destini 125 will likely get a more boxy design language, unlike the current version.

However, this scooter is expected to incorporate cleaner lines around its flanks, plus its front fascia may accommodate a triangle-shaped headlamp, accompanied by apron-mounted turn lamps.

In parallel, the rear end of this updated iteration could have a redesigned tail section, which is likely to be on the sleeker side.

Other expected offerings include a larger grab rail for the pillion, a newly designed external fuel lid, and a reprofiled exhaust infrastructure.

It is also speculated that Hero will offer a wide range of colour options on the updated Destini 125 scooter.

As far as the specifications go, the Hero Destini is likely to be powered by the same engine as the outgoing iteration. The current version is powered by a 124.6-cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine, which is tuned to churn out 9bhp at 7000rpm and 10.4Nm of peak torque at 5500rpm. This engine unit is paired with a CVT automatic gearbox.

However, we assume that Hero MotoCorp might retune that engine for its upcoming scooter.

The chassis and the suspension setup are also expected to be retained. Like the current version, the upcoming Destini 125 facelift may continue to stand on telescopic forks at the front and a mono-shock at the rear. Additionally, this vehicle is likely to get standard drum brakes and optional disc-drum brakes.

Further, the outgoing Destini runs on 10-inch wheels, and we expect that the wheel size may change with the facelifted version. That said, we can expect a 12-inch wheel on both ends or one end.

In terms of features, the updated version could get all-LED lighting and a fully digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity. The Bluetooth connectivity would allow the rider to check the vehicle’s status via Hero’s dedicated app. Some features are deemed to carry over from the current version, such as the USB charging port, storage cubbies, and a pillion backrest, to name a few.

The updated Hero Destini 125 will continue to take the likes of the TVS Jupiter 125, Honda Activa 125 and Suzuki Access 125, among others.
