Vivo is preparing to launch its new Vivo S50 series in China this December. The lineup will include two models: the regular Vivo S50 and a smaller but more powerful Vivo S50 Pro Mini. Ahead of the official debut, the company has started teasing key features, confirming that the Pro Mini will use Qualcomm’s newest Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset.
Compact Flagship With High-End Performance
According to Vivo Product Manager Han Boxiao, the Vivo S50 Pro Mini is being positioned as a “compact flagship.” It will feature a 6.31 inch flat display, making it a strong option for users who want a smaller phone without giving up top-tier performance.
Inside, the device will run on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, making it the first S-series phone to use Qualcomm’s latest flagship processor. This is paired with LPDDR5X Ultra RAM capable of speeds up to 9,600Mbps and fast UFS 4.1 storage.
Vivo says this combination has already achieved over 3 million points on the AnTuTu benchmark, placing it among the most powerful compact phones available.
Camera Hardware and Build Quality
The Vivo S50 Pro Mini will feature a dual rear camera setup, led by a Sony IMX882 periscope telephoto lens. It will be accompanied by a large, highly sensitive main camera sensor. On the front, users will get a 50 megapixel selfie camera, suitable for clear video calls and detailed photos.
Vivo has also confirmed support for full focal length zoom flash, a feature usually found only on its premium flagship models.
The phone’s build quality includes an X-axis linear motor for better haptics and Vivo’s new 3D Ultrasonic Fingerprint 2.0 sensor for fast, secure unlocking. It carries IP68 and IP69 ratings, meaning it is resistant to dust, water, and even high-pressure spray.
Big Battery in a Small Phone
Despite its compact size, the S50 Pro Mini packs a large 6,500mAh “Blue Sea” battery. Charging support includes 90W wired fast charging and 40W wireless charging, ensuring the device can recharge quickly and last through a full day of use.
