After announcing its XR device, Project Moohan last year, Samsung has now revealed that it will launch on October 21. This will be the brand’s first XR (Extended Reality) device based on the Android XR platform.

Project Moohan Will be a Reality Next Week

Samsung is hosting the launch event on October 21 at 10 pm ET (7:30 am IST on October 22), and this will be live-streamed on the company’s YouTube channel. Project Moohan is also up for pre-booking on Samsung US’s website, and those who pre-book will get a $100 credit.

Project Moohan is an XR headset and will mark the introduction of the new category of AI-native devices. Powered by the Android XR platform, which is co-developed by Google and Qualcomm, the platform will be seeded with multimodal AI capabilities from the start. Samsung has a strong hold on mobile AI, and it would be interesting to see how the new product pans out.

Android XR is an open and scalable platform, which is “designed to scale across form factors, bringing AI to the centre of immersive, everyday experiences.”

While not much is known about the headset, it will directly compete with Apple’s Vision Pro and is speculated to bring two micro-OLED displays. The displays will support up to 4K resolution and 29 million pixels. The XR headset is said to pack Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR+ Gen 2 spatial computing platform and will bring in new immersive experiences to the forefront.

The event is set for next week, where we can expect proper details on Project Moohan. We will keep you in the loop, so don’t forget to tune in.
