OnePlus is gearing up to launch the OnePlus 15R in India on December 17, alongside the new OnePlus Pad Go 2. Ahead of the big event, the company has been revealing key features of the phone one by one. The latest announcement confirms that the 15R will come with a major upgrade to its front camera.
Big Improvements to the Selfie Camera
OnePlus has revealed that the 15R will feature a 32 megapixel selfie camera, which the company calls the most advanced front camera ever used in its R Series. It comes with autofocus, allowing the camera to automatically adjust and capture sharper, clearer selfies.
For the first time in the R Series, the front camera will also support 4K video recording at 30fps. This is a major jump from the OnePlus 13R, which had a 16 megapixel camera limited to 1080p video.
Display and Imaging Software
OnePlus has already confirmed that the 15R will feature a 1.5K AMOLED display with a super-smooth 165Hz refresh rate, similar to the flagship OnePlus 15. The screen offers 450ppi pixel density and can reach up to 1,800 nits of peak brightness, while also dimming down to just 2 nits for comfortable night-time use.
The phone will also include the company’s Detailmax Engine, first introduced in the flagship model. This adds advanced photo-processing features like Ultra Clear Mode, Clear Burst, and Clear Night Engine to enhance clarity in all lighting conditions.
Performance and Battery
Under the hood, the OnePlus 15R will run on the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset — and OnePlus claims it will be the first phone in the world to launch with this processor. It also packs a G2 Wi-Fi chip and a dedicated Touch Response Chip for faster network speeds and better touch accuracy.
The device will be powered by a huge 7,400mAh battery, the biggest OnePlus has ever used in India. The company says the battery should still hold 80 percent of its capacity even after four years of daily use.
