Apple might be planning to release its next budget-friendly iPhone much sooner than people thought. A new report suggests the iPhone 17e could launch within the first three months of this year, rather than waiting for a summer release.

Goodbye to the Notch

The most noticeable change is likely on the front of the phone. Leaks claim the iPhone 17e will finally drop the old display notch. Instead, it will use the “Dynamic Island”—the interactive pill-shaped cutout found on the newer, more expensive models.

This would be a big step for Apple’s cheaper phones, making them look modern and consistent with the rest of the lineup.

Screen and Power

While the design is getting a facelift, the screen specs might stay the same. The report mentions a 6.1-inch display with a standard 60Hz refresh rate. This means it won’t have the ultra-smooth motion found on the Pro versions.

Under the hood, however, it sounds powerful. The phone is tipped to use the unreleased A19 chip. Putting a high-end processor in a cheaper body is a classic Apple strategy, ensuring the phone runs fast for years. It is also expected to keep Face ID.

Launch Timing

There was talk earlier about a May release, but this new leak from a known tipster contradicts that. It points to a launch in Q1 (January to March). This makes sense, given that the previous model, the iPhone 16e, also arrived in February.

Market Impact & Context

If this leak is true, Apple is effectively killing off the old “notched” design for good. This matters because it pushes app developers to focus entirely on the Dynamic Island interface. For budget buyers, it offers a way to get a phone that looks current without paying flagship prices.

Expected Price

There is no confirmed price yet. However, the current model sells for around Rs. 59,900. If Apple sticks to this pricing while adding a newer chip and the modern look, it could sell very well against mid-range Android rivals.
