Disney is overhauling how subscribers use its app, announcing plans to introduce a vertical video feed later this year. Revealed at CES 2026, the update aims to capture younger audiences who prefer the continuous scrolling format popularized by social media over static content libraries.
‘Snackable’ content for daily viewing
This new feature will not simply be a repository for trailers. According to Erin Teague, a top product executive at Disney, the feed will host a diverse mix of video types. Users can expect to see original short-form clips, re-edited scenes from classic movies, and viral moments from existing TV shows.
The goal is to offer “snackable” entertainment that fits into small pockets of time. Rather than requiring viewers to commit to a two-hour film, the app will provide bite-sized content designed for daily habits. Teague emphasized that this format is specifically tailored to Gen Z and Gen Alpha users, who now expect video content to be delivered in a vertical stream.
Following the ESPN playbook
The strategy builds on a recent success within Disney’s sports division. In 2025, the ESPN app introduced “Verts,” a dedicated tab for vertical sports highlights. After seeing positive engagement there, the company is expanding the concept to its main entertainment hub.
