To mark the festival of Onam, Volkswagen India has introduced the Onam edition of the Virtus sedan and Taigun SUV. The company has not only rolled out this edition to mark the festival but also to celebrate the inauguration of six new touchpoints in Kerala. Kerala was observed as one of the best-performing states for Volkswagen India.

As for pricing, the Virtus Onam Edition has launched this vehicle at a starting price of Rs 13.57 lakh and can go up to Rs 14.87 lakh, while the Taigun Onam Edition has a starting price of Rs 14.08 lakh and goes up to Rs 15.63 lakh. These are ex-showroom figures, as of August 2024.

It is also worth noting that the Onam Edition of the Virtus and Taigun are limited to 100 units each.

Highlights

The most notable offering of the Onam Edition is the all-black colour scheme on the inside and outside. The Taigun Onam Edition is based on the top-spec GT Line variant and has the same features and safety suite.

These include a single-pane sunroof, ventilated front seats, a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment screen (wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay), an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, auto HVAC, rain-sensing wipers, and auto headlights, among others.

However, the add-ons include a dual-tone horn, puddle lamps, front parking sensors, and a TSI badge on the front fender.

In parallel, the Virtus Onam Edition is a derivative of the Highline variant and receives nearly identical features as the Taigun Onam Edition, except for the sunroof.

In terms of specifications, this limited-run edition of the Taigun and Virtus is exclusive to the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine mated to a standard six-speed manual and an optional automatic gearbox.

As for the rivals, the Volkswagen Taigun SUV rivals the Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Hyundai Creta, Honda Elevate, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and Toyota Hyryder, among others.

The Volkswagen Virtus sedan directly takes the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Honda City, Skoda Slavia, and Hyundai Verna.
