Tata Motors recently launched the highly anticipated Tata Curvv EV and now reports are surfacing about the Tata Curvv CNG. This will be the fourth fuel option for the Tata Curvv after the EV, petrol and diesel.

This move will make the Tata Curvv reach all sorts of buyers and may get an edge of having an extra market share in the compact SUV segment.

Tata Curvv CNG: Overview

Shailesh Chandra, managing director, of Tata Motors, spoke to Autocar India and said, “While designing the car we have ensured that the design is protected for CNG, and while it’s premature to confirm a launch I can say it’s under active consideration.”

The vehicle will likely be powered by the same 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine which was showcased with the Tata Nexon iCNG at the Bharat Mobility Expo. Additionally, the Nexon iCNG is expected to arrive early next year.

Inspired by the Grand Vitara CNG and Toyota Hyryder CNG, Tata may also offer the CNG in upper-level trims of the Curvv. Mr Chandra added, “We are seeing others in this segment with CNG, so there is interest”.

Tata currently offers CNG with four cars including the Tiago, Tigor, Punch and Altroz. The Tata Nexon CNG is awaited for early 2025. There is no confirmation about the exact launch date of the Curvv CNG but it will surely come.

The Curvv EV debuted last week in the Indian market with a starting price of Rs 17.49 lakh. Prices for the ICE Curvv will be announced on September 2, 2024.
