Skoda Kodiaq and Superb Secured a 5-Star Safety Rating at Euro NCAP

The Skoda Superb (sedan) and Kodiaq (SUV) secured a five-star safety rating at the Euro NCAP crash test. The models tested were Europe-specific.

The current generation of the Skoda Kodiaq and Superb recently secured a five-star safety rating at the Euro NCAP crash test. 

Expressing himself on this occasion, Johannes Neft, Skoda Auto Board Member for Technical Development stated, “The safety of our customers and all other road users is our top priority. Therefore, we are delighted to receive five‑star ratings for the second-generation Škoda Kodiaq and fourth‑generation Škoda Superb in the Euro NCAP test. We are particularly proud of our strong results for Adult and Child Occupant protection. The fact that we have extended our successful record of five‑star evaluations for our vehicles even after the more stringent test parameters were introduced in 2023 confirms our clear commitment to the highest safety standards.”

The Scores 

As for the Skoda Kodiaq, this SUV secured 89% in the category of adult protection, 82% in the category for protection of vulnerable road users (cyclists and pedestrians), and 79% in the category of safety assistance systems. 

In parallel, the fourth-generation Skoda Superb achieved an impressive score of 93% for adult protection, 87% for child protection, and 82% protection for vulnerable road users. Meanwhile, its ADAS suite received a safety score of 80%. 

Skoda Kodiaq and Superb: Powertrains 

Internationally, the Skoda Kodiaq SUV has several powertrains on offer: 1.5-litre TSI with mild-hybrid setup (148bhp), 2.0-litre TSI with all-wheel drive setup (201bhp), and 2.0-litre TDI with front-wheel drive (151bhp) and optional all-wheel drive (201bhp).

Lastly, there is an optional plug-in hybrid version with a 1.5-litre TSI unit, delivering a combined output of 201bhp. 

As for Skoda Superb, this sedan is also offered in petrol, diesel, mild-hybrid, and plug-in hybrid. The petrol version has two different power figures, delivering 201bhp and 261bhp. Similarly, the diesel version is offered in two state of tunes, producing 148bhp and 190bhp. 

An automatic seven-speed DSG unit is standard on all variants. 

Skoda Kodiaq and Superb: Other Offerings

Both models host a long list of features as far as comfort, convenience and safety, are concerned. The offerings include Front Assist with predictive pedestrian and cyclist protection, Side Assist with rear traffic alerts, Collision Avoidance Assist, Turn Assist, Crossroad Assist, and Exit Warning. 

There is also a Travel Assist, which actively helps the driver to control the car longitudinally and laterally. With adaptive cruise control (ACC), there is an Emergency Assist, Adaptive Lane Assist with roadworks recognition, Traffic Jam Assist, Adaptive Lane Assist, and Crew Protect Assist. 

Further, the brand also stated that they have enhanced the Front Assist and Crossroad Assist by installing new nano radar sensors on both ends of the front apron. In addition, the company has also updated the Attention and Drowsiness Assist, as this feature monitors the driver’s behaviour, and, if needed, the car will activate auditory and visual alerts on the Virtual Cockpit.
