Mercedes-Benz India to Launch Two New Models on August 8; Read Here

The Indian division of Mercedes-Benz is expanding its portfolio, as they are preparing to bring two new models to our market, the CLE Cabriolet and the GLC 43 4Matic Coupe. The former, a cabriolet, as the name implies, is a convertible model, while the latter is a sports coupe SUV. 

These two models will arrive at our shores via the CBU route. 

Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet

For those unaware the CLE Cabriolet made its global debut in July 2023, followed by the unveiling event of the CLE Coupe. Once the latter is launched in India, it will join the E53 Cabriolet and the SL 55 Roadster, making it the third convertible on Mercedes-Benz’s India portfolio. 

Unlike the global markets, the India-bound CLE will only be offered in convertible except for the coupe shape. The CLE Cabriolet is expected to arrive either in 300 4Matic or 450 4Matic avatar. 

If so, the former variant has a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, while the latter has a 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, producing 254bhp and 375bhp, respectively. Overseas, there are also CLE200 and CLE200d versions. 

The international spec of this Mercedes convertible car hosts a 48V mild-hybrid system and a nine-speed torque converter automatic transmission. It is based on the Modular Rear Architecture (MRA), and it has borrowed design cues from the outgoing E-Class, such as the electrically operated fabric roof, long bonnet, and big grille. 

On the inside, this vehicle resembles the ongoing C-Class, featuring an 11.9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 2+2 layout of the seats.  

The Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet is expected to touch the crore mark in India, as far as the pricing is concerned. 

Mercedes-Benz AMG GLC 43 4Matic Coupe

The Mercedes-Benz AMG GLC 43 4Matic Coupe is a sportier and performance-centric version of the GLC SUV. It has several AMG-specific designs that can be seen on the bumpers (front and rear), front grille, 21-inch alloy wheels, and a quad-exhaust setup. 

The AMG-specific inserts are inside the car, too, including steering wheel, floor mats, pedals, and infotainment- and driver- displays. 

This vehicle marked its global debut in September 2023. 

As for powertrains, the international spec of the AMG-based GLC 43 Coupe is equipped with a mild-hybrid setup. That version also has a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine, which gives a combined output of 415bhp and 500Nm of peak torque. The power is sent to all four wheels (4Matic) via a nine-speed automatic transmission. 

With these specifications, this performance-centric SUV can sprint from 0-100kmph in just 4.7 seconds, as claimed by the company.

Further, this vehicle has rear-wheel steering, speed-sensing steering, and adjustable suspension dampers. 

Once launched in India via the CBU route, the Mercedes-Benz AMG GLC 43 Coupe is also deemed to touch the Rs 1 crore plus mark, as far as the pricing is concerned.
