The current iteration of the Mercedes Benz’s flagship SUV, the GLS, is in its third generation which made its global debut in 2019. Since then, the first facelifted avatar of the ongoing GLS SUV was introduced in 2023, and it will be followed by the second update that will arrive in 2024.

And both iterations have been brought to our Indian shores.

Exterior Design

The second facelifted version of the Mercedes-Benz GLS has images circulating on the internet while having wraps on the front and rear ends. The spy shots indicate slimmer LED headlights, a reprofiled front mesh grille, tweaked LED tail lamps, and redesigned front and rear bumpers.

It may also get a new set of alloy wheels. However, the rest of the design elements and the silhouette of the SUV remain to be unchanged.

Interior Design and Features

Currently, we do not have any information on the facelifted version of the Mercedes-Benz GLS. This seven-seater SUV, however, is expected to receive the latest and larger touchscreen infotainment unit, which is expected to be supported by the company’s latest software found in new-age Mercedes cars.

Furthermore, this vehicle is expected to undergo minor changes, as far as the dashboard’s layout and upholstery are concerned.

However, the rest of the features are expected to carry over from the current version of the Mercedes-Benz GLS.

Some features found in the current version include the ADAS suite, an adjustable air suspension, a panoramic sunroof, 64-colour ambient lighting, ventilated seats, active noise cancellation, rear seat entertainment, and infrared-absorbing tinted windows that effectively block UVA and UVB rays, among others.

So, in terms of comfort, convenience, and safety, the second facelifted version of the Mercedes-Benz GLS won’t let you lament the offerings it has.

Specifications

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLS facelift is likely to continue the existing powertrains. The India-bound GLS has a GLS 450 variant, available in petrol and diesel. Both versions are powered by a 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbocharged engine. The petrol iteration produces 381bhp, while the diesel version produces 367bhp.

Both engines have a 48V mild-hybrid system. Further, the power is sent to all four wheels (4Matic) via a standard nine-speed automatic transmission.

Availability

Currently, there is no official announcement from Mercedes-Benz India about the second updated version of the GLS SUV. But, we expect this vehicle to come to our shores in the coming months. However, the spied test mule will be globally revealed next year in 2025.

Once launched in India, it will be priced slightly higher than the ongoing version of the Mercedes-Benz GLS.
