The sportier iteration of the GLC SUV has launched in India, but in the Coupe version, which is priced at Rs 1.11 crore (ex-showroom) by Mercedes-Benz. This Coupe SUV was launched alongside the CLE Cabriolet, which is priced at Rs 1.10 crore (ex-showroom).

Unlike the previous generation’s V6 engine, the company has downsized the powertrain of the new generation, but they have promised more power and more efficiency. Besides that, the 2024 GLC Coupe incorporates the new look as seen on the new generation GLC SUV, which marked its global debut last year in 2023.

A Glimpse: 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe

Mercedes-Benz India has rolled out the GLC Coupe after two years and is based on the new generation GLC SUV. This AMG-specific GLC in Coupe shape has several AMG-specific design treatments, including the Panamericana front grille, sportier bumpers (front and rear), large air intakes, ORVMs, and a multi-spoke alloy wheel.

Unlike the standard GLC SUV, the GLC Coupe, as the Coupe name implies, has a downward sloping roofline, which continues to appeal to our eyes, plus it stands out on the road.

As far as the specifications are concerned, the GLC 43 Coupe 4Matic is powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder (in-line), turbocharged petrol engine - hand-built in Affalterbach. Interestingly, this new motor utilises an electric gas exhaust turbocharger - an F1 car-borrowed technology, plus the engine has a 48V mild-hybrid system.

The new iteration with a downsized engine has 33bhp more but 20Nm less than its predecessor, resulting in an output of 415bhp and 500Nm of torque.

This engine is mated to a 9-speed, which draws power from the engine and delivers to all four wheels.

The Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe is claimed to do 0-100kmph in just 4.8 seconds. It also has driving modes, an adjustable suspension setup, and a three-stage AMG steering system, to name a few.

On the features front, Mercedes cars are known for boasting a long list of features, be it comfort, convenience or safety. Some notable features include electrically adjustable sports seats with memory function, Alcantara cum leather upholstery, AMG-specific red stitching with an all-black cabin, a digital infotainment unit, and a digital instrument cluster, among others.

It also has 64-colour ambient lighting, multiple airbags, traction control, hill-assist, telematics, and AMG-specific exhaust setup, to name a few.

Market Positioning

Mercedes-Benz has rolled out the 2024 GLC 43 Coupe 4Matic to Indian shores via the CBU route, hence, it has an ex-showroom price of Rs 1.11 crore. Its direct competitor is the BMW X3 M40i.
