Lexus has launched the LX 700h with a hybrid powertrain. This comes in as a third powertrain option for the SUV which already has diesel and petrol-only variants. Other than this new powertrain option, the SUV has also gained some features and cosmetic changes.
Lexus LX 700h
The first major talking point is the brand-new hybrid powertrain consisting of an electric motor and a bi-turbo 3.5-litre V6 petrol burner which is coupled with a ten-speed automatic transmission. This very same engine is expected to make its way into the upcoming Toyota Land Cruiser 300.
For those unaware, Toyota is the parent company of Lexus, so this powertrain or any other part-sharing is evident very often between these two brands.
Following the legacy of other Lexus LX models, the LX 700h is also a four-wheel-drive SUV. Given the massive power figures of 463hp and 790 Nm, it can go anywhere. These are very high-performance figures, which have been possible by adding the Hybrid tech.
Other than this, the entire Lexus LX lineup has received some upgrades, which include a new 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, faster wireless charging pads, and full body massage systems on the VIP and Executive trims.
Lexus LX 700h Overtrail
Along with all these updates, the brand has also introduced the Overtrail edition of the LX. This is an offroad-focused avatar of the SUV and it gets uniquely designed alloy wheels wrapped in all-terrain tyres.
The Lexus LX Overtrail wears an exclusive Moon Desert paint which looks smashing with a blacked-out grille, black alloy wheels, and black accents throughout the car.
On the inside, the LX Overtrail gets a low-saturation monolith upholstery with ash burl accents, creating a contrasting look. Other than cosmetic updates, the LX Overtrail, like all the LX models, gets front, rear and central differential locks, making it a versatile tool for offroad adventures.
Launch Timeline of the New Lexus LX Models
The entire updated LX model, consisting of the brand new LX 700h, is set to debut first in the northern American markets. After that, the brand plans to bring these cars to other markets.
