Following the launch of the Hyundai Exter CNG with dual CNG cylinders, the Korean carmaker has given the same CNG setup to the Grand i10 Nios, which is launched at Rs 7.75 lakh. This is an ex-showroom figure.

The split CNG setup allows the vehicle to offer more boot space and thanks to the integrated electronic control unit (ECU), it allows the driver to switch between petrol and CNG modes while driving. This CNG-based setup is exclusive to the mid-spec Magna and Sportz variants.

Specifications

Like the conventional CNG-based single-cylinder setup, the Grand i10 Nios with the new setup also has the same engine output as the former.

That said, it continues to be powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine with CNG support and has an output of 67.72bhp at 6000rpm and 95.2Nm of peak torque at 4000rpm. It powers the front wheels via a standard five-speed manual transmission.

The Hyundai i10 CNG has an ARAI-claimed mileage of 27km/kg.

Features

In terms of features, the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios CNG has an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, manual HVAC with rear AC vents, keyless entry, a semi-digital driver display, a multi-function steering wheel, and USB ports, among others.

It also has power windows, fabric upholstery and connected car technology.

On the safety front, this hatchback is equipped with a tyre pressure monitor, rear parking sensors, six airbags, and ABS with EBD, to name a few.

Pricing

For the new dual CNG cylinder setup on the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, customers will have to pay a premium of Rs 7,000.

The Magna variant with the single CNG cylinder commanded Rs 7.68 lakh, while the new setup commands Rs 7.75 lakh. Similarly, the Sportz with the conventional CNG setup had a price tag of Rs 8.23 lakh, but now the same variant with new technology carries a price tag of Rs 8.30 lakh. Hence, both variants observed an increment of Rs 7,000.

For the record, the Hyundai Exter with the dual CNG cylinder setup also observed a difference of Rs 7,000 between the old and new CNG setups.

The figures mentioned above are ex-showroom, as of August 2024.
