Hyundai has launched the highly anticipated dual-cylinder CNG variant of the Exter in India. The vehicle is called the 'Exter Hy-CNG Duo' and is available in three variants. Pricing has increased by up to Rs 1 lakh but the increased boot space won't let you lament.
Hyundai Exter Hy-CNG: Design and Performace
The brand has replaced the bulky single CNG cylinder and has instead installed twin small units on the boot's floor, which sit flat, as a result, the boot capacity hasn't been compromised. We have seen similar twin tank layouts in Tata CNG cars.
Powering the Hyundai Exter Hy-CNG is the same 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol burner with a CNG setup, which churns out 69hp and 95.2Nm. The vehicle is only available with a 5-speed manual transmission.
This vehicle's CNG tank has a water-equivalent capacity of 60 litres. The Exter CNG has an ARAI-claimed mileage of 27.1km/kg.
A 5-speed AMT is available in the petrol-spec Hyundai Exter. However, Tata offers the AMT gearbox on their CNG vehicles.
The Exter is the first from Hyundai to get this twin-cylinder CNG setup and now it has opened doors for the Grand i10 Nios CNG and Aura CNG, which are likely to get this setup.
Hyundai Exter Hy-CNG: Variants and Pricing
The three variants of the Exter Hy-CNG Duo are S, SX and Knight SX, priced at Rs 8.5 lakh, Rs 9.23 lakh, and Rs 9.38 lakh, respectively. These are ex-showroom figures, as of July 2024.
