As you might know, the Citroen C3 lacked a handful of much-needed features, which were already provided by its direct competitors. But, as the saying goes “better late than never”

So, the updated Citroen C3 with newly added features is limited to the top-spec Shine variant. In addition, it is worth noting that this vehicle has the appearance retained.

Besides that, the iteration was showcased at the unveiling event of the Citroen Basalt Coupe SUV.

So, let’s take a look at the new offerings of the updated Citroen C3.

New Features

The French automaker Citroen has made two tweaks to the exterior of the C3 hatchback. The most notable addition is the set of LED projector headlamps. In addition to that, the company has also slightly redesigned and repositioned the ORVMs to their conventional place, below the A-pillar. Earlier, it used to be on the front fender. Having it repositioned has escalated the presence of the vehicle.

Only these two exterior changes have been made.

Now, as for the interior, the C3 boasts an automatic HVAC, alongside a leather-wrapped steering wheel. To give a more premium feel to the customers, the company has also updated the keyfob that look more upmarket.

Moreover, this vehicle now houses a larger 7-inch digital instrument cluster, which displays a tachometer and other relevant information.

Aside from that, this iteration of the Citroen C3 continues to offer a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment unit which supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also retains power windows, steering-mounted audio controls, hill-start assist, a rear camera with rear parking sensors, and electronic stability control (ESC).

But, we feel, the company could have also provided rear headrests, a wireless phone charger, and cruise control, as these features would have resulted in a complete package.

However, Citroen India has also added an extra layer of safety because this update will make the C3 hatchback have six airbags.

Engine and Transmission

On the specifications front, the Citroen C3 has retained the engine options that include a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine and a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine.

The former produces 80.46bhp at 5750rpm and 115Nm of torque at 3750rpm, while the latter produces 108.62bhp at 5500rpm and 190Nm of peak torque at 1750rpm. And, these engines are exclusive to a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed manual transmission, respectively.

Both engines of the Citroen C3 have the same ARAI-claimed mileage of 19.3kmpl.

Prices and Rivals

As mentioned earlier, this update with new additions is limited to the top-spec Shine variant, so the price for that variant could only be revised, while the other variants are deemed to have prices unchanged.

But, currently, the Citroen C3 has a starting price of Rs 6.16 lakh for the base variant, the Puretech 82 Live Petrol MT, and goes up to Rs 9 lakh for the top variant, the Shine Dual Tone Tubro Petrol MT.

These are ex-showroom prices, as of August 2024.
