The Indian division of the French automobile manufacturer Citroen India is gearing up to launch the Basalt Coupe SUV in our country. The company recently posted a teaser video on social media, which gave a glimpse of the Basalt’s interior.

The first frame of the video showed a beige-coloured upholstery with adjustable headrests and a centre armrest, along with integrated cup holders. In addition to that, the dashboard houses a freestanding touchscreen infotainment unit in the centre. We expect the vehicle to have the same 10.2-inch infotainment unit, as seen in the Citroen C3 Aircross.

Other expected features include a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats (cooling function), electrically adjustable ORVMs, power windows (all), auto HVAC, a sunroof, a wireless charger, and a keyless entry.

On the safety front, it is deemed to have multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child-seat anchorages, automatic headlights, anti-glare IRVM, rain-sensing wipers, traction control, disc brakes, 360-degree camera, etc.

Other Details

In terms of specifications, the Citroen Basalt is likely to be powered by the tried and tested 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which also powers the C3 Aircross. This punchy engine is tuned to churn out 108bhp and 205Nm of peak torque.

It may power the front wheels via a standard six-speed manual and an optional six-speed automatic transmission.

Once launched in India, the Basalt SUV will take the likes of the Tata Curvv Coupe SUV, Hyundai Creta, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and the Honda Elevate, to name a few.
