BMW India Reports Highest Car Sales in the First Half of 2024

BMW Group India recorded an increase of 21% in sales in the first half of 2024, compared to 2023. That said, the recorded YoY sales increased from 5867 units to 7098 units.

The Indian division of the luxury carmaker BMW India reported the total number of cars sold in the first six months of 2024, which stood at 7098. It noted an increase of 21% during the same period last year, up from 5,867 units.

It is worth noting that BMW alone reported a total sales of 6,734 units, while BMW SUVs saw a YoY (Year-on-Year) increase of 23%. 

In parallel, Mini dispatched 364 units of their vehicles. On the other hand, BMW Motorrad contributed 3614 units, as far as the half-yearly sales are concerned. 

Expressing himself on this achievement, Vikram Pawah, President of BMW Group India, stated, In 2024, BMW Group India is making great strides in implementing its strategy by achieving new heights in business performance and customer delight. We have accomplished the highest-ever half-yearly car sales and continuously maintained leadership in the luxury electric car segment.”

BMW India’s Bestselling Models 

BMW SUVs secure the status of the primary contributor, as far as sales in India are concerned. It was rated at 3600 units (approx) or 54% of the total. The BMW X1 was notably the company’s bestselling SUV in the country, contributing a share of 19% in sales. 

As for the luxury sedan, the BMW 3 Series topped the charts as it managed to account for 17% of the sales.

The BMW XM, 7 Series, i7, and X7 also witnessed an increase of 17%, and those vehicles fall in the crore bracket, plus they accounted for overall sales of 18%. Among these models, the BMW X7 was the top-selling product from BMW’s flagship lineup. 

The company also witnessed strong traction in the luxury electric segment in the first six months of 2024. That said, the total sales of EVs from BMW and Mini combined stood at 397 units. Notably, the BMW i7 was crowned for being the bestselling electric version during this period. Nevertheless, the EV portfolio of BMW India recorded a total sales of around 2000 units, while the BMW iX contributed half of the sales. 

Upcoming BMW Cars in India

BMW India is all prepared to launch the next generation 5 Series LWB (long-wheelbase), the new Mini Cooper S, the Mini Countryman E, and the new CE 04 electric scooter. These products will be launched on July 24, 2024.
