The German automobile giant BMW has launched its first electric scooter in India, the BMW CE 04. The scooter is not only BMW’s but has become India’s most expensive electric two-wheeler.

BMW CE 04: Features

The scooter is available in blue and white colours. It is equipped with features like an all-LED light, a 10.25-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, a keyless ignition, three riding modes (Eco, Rain, Road), ABS, switchable traction control, a main stand, and a reverse mode, among others.

BMW CE 04: Performance

Propelling the BMW CE 04 is a 31kW electric motor that produces 42hp and 62Nm of torque. Despite its heavy weight of 231kgs, the scooter manages to sprint from 0 to 50kph in just 2.6 seconds and can run up to a maximum of 120kph.

The scooter has a seat height of 780mm which is accessible for all sorts of Indian riders, while having a wheelbase of 1675mm which helps the scooter stay planted on highway rides and provides space to house the battery pack.

BMW CE 04: Battery, Charging and Range

The vehicle draws its power from an 8.5kWh battery pack which can be charged fully via the standard 2.3kW charger in 4 hours and 30 minutes. The brand also offers an optional fast charger of 6.9kW which can juice up the scooter in just 1 hour and 40 minutes. BMW claims a riding range of 130km on a fully charged battery.

BMW CE 04: Wheels, Braking and Suspension

The BMW CE 04 rolls on 15-inch wheels and fairly wide profile tyres of 120/70-R15 at the front and 160/60-R15 at the rear end. Dropping the anchor here are twin 256mm discs at the front and a single disc at the rear. Suspension duties are handled by the twin telescopic forks at the front and a mono-shock at the rear.

BMW CE 04: Pricing and Delivery Details

The scooter is priced at Rs 14.9 lakh, ex-showroom. At the moment, it does not have any competition, as far as the Indian electric two-wheeler market is concerned. Interested buyers can book the scooter now via the website of BMW Motorrad India. However, the deliveries are said to commence in September 2024.
