BMW has been manufacturing the CE 02 in India for a while. Now, the brand plans to sell it here after the successful launch of its elder sibling, the BMW CE 04. The CE 02 scooter has been co-developed in India with TVS Motors and will be exported to other markets.
BMW CE 02 Specifications and Expected India Pricing
The BMW CE 04 is an expensive electric two-wheeler in India, having an ex-showroom price of Rs 14.9 lakh. It has become India’s most expensive electric two-wheeler as it's a CBU import. The CE 02, on the other hand, is manufactured in India, which is why it is expected to be priced better.
BMW sells the CE 02 in international markets at an average price of above Rs 6 lakh. So, we can expect similar pricing in the Indian market too.
We can take a look at the TVS X electric scooter, it has a starting ex-showroom price of Rs 2.49 lakh. This is nowhere near the mass market scooter pricing, because it is not built for the masses. Similarly, the BMW CE 02 is an even more upmarket product, therefore we expect a lot higher pricing than the TVS X.
In its global avatar, the CE 02 has two variants - a single 2kWh battery pack and the other with a dual-battery pack. The standard model offers a 45km range, whereas the dual battery pack model can go up to 90km on a single charge. Please note that these are company-claimed figures.
The global model also has features like a 3.5-inch TFT screen, all-LED lights, electric reverse gear, three riding modes, and a smartphone holder, among others. It will be interesting to see what features are available in the India-bound BMW CE 02, which should arrive on our shores by the end of this year.
