Following the launch of the new generation 5 Series in India, which arrived on our shores in the long-wheelbase version; the 6 Series GT, has been discontinued and delisted from BMW India’s website.

That was, however, not surprising, as the BMW 6 Series GT proved the demand for stretched wheelbase vehicles, as the wheelbase’s length translates to the legroom offered.

That said, the 6 Series GT was BMW India’s second-highest-selling sedan in FY24.

BMW 6 Series GT: Brief Overview

When this vehicle was here, it was essentially considered as an alternative to the Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB, as they both were more or less the same in terms of dimensions and features.

The 6 Series GT was first introduced in our country in 2018 and received a facelift in 2021. This sedan was offered in these two variants: 620d and 630i. The former was a diesel with a 2.0-litre diesel unit that produced 190bhp, while the latter was a petrol with a 2.0-litre petrol engine that produced 252bhp.

As for sales figures, the BMW 6 Series GT had 1428 units dispatched in FY24, which makes it one and a half times more sales than the previous generation 5 Series (1059 units were sold). Interestingly, it even outperformed other competitors from the luxury segment, including the BMW X3, Land Rover Defender, and Audi Q5.
