The upcoming Jeep Compass will be the third-generation model, and this iteration is reportedly to make its global debut in 2025. Plus, the company will make this SUV available with internal combustion engines, mild hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and pure electric setups.
Stellantis-owned Jeep will architecture this one of the bestselling SUVs, the Compass, on the STLA Medium platform, which underpins the similarly-sized vehicles, Peugeot 3008 / 5008 and Opel Grandland, and the new Citroen C5 Aircross.
As for the Indian market, the current iteration sold here is in the second generation, and it will almost be a decade since the Compass’ India debut in 2017.
Details We Have So Far
The official teaser image dropped by the automaker shows the SUV’s side profile silhouette along with a few noticeable design elements. The image shows a more defined shoulder line, a flat bonnet (similar to the Jeep Avenger), a wraparound greenhouse, and squared-off wheel arches. The roof line also narrows towards the rear end of the vehicle, plus there are noticeable design elements, such as the blacked-out D-pillars, slim LED- taillamps- and headlamps, and short overhangs.
The embossed ‘Compass’ badging is also visible on the lower section of the front fender, and the same can be seen on the current version of the Compass.
As far as the specifications are concerned, the third-generation Jeep Compass SUV will have an array of powertrains to cater to different types of markets. As mentioned earlier, the American automaker will offer the SUV in internal combustion engines (ICE), mild-hybrids, hybrids, and pure EV versions.
Moreover, it will continue to offer four-wheel-drive, alongside ‘various multi-energy propulsion systems’. The Europe-spec base model of the Jeep Compass will be powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine, paired with a mild-hybrid system. In parallel, the all-electric version of the 3rd-gen Compass is expected to house a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive setup, as seen on the Peugeot E-3008. The latter’s claimed range is 700km on a single charge, plus it is the first Stellantis vehicle to be underpinned by the STLA Medium platform.
Lastly, the company has confirmed that the upcoming third-generation Jeep Compass will enter the production line next year in 2025 at the Melfi plant in Italy, followed by production at other plants later. On Jeep’s global portfolio, the new Compass will be positioned between the Recon and Wagoneer S.
