Mercedes-Benz India has launched the CLE Cabriolet as a full import and has received a price tag of Rs 1.10 crore (ex-showroom). It has launched alongside the GLC 43 Coupe SUV.

The CLE Cabriolet is the third offering after the E 53 Cabriolet and SL 55 Roadster from Mercedes-Benz India’s convertible portfolio. This newly launched iteration will be exclusive to the top-spec AMG Line trim.

The German automaker has also strategically positioned the CLE Cabriolet between the C-Class and E-Class Cabriolet.

Specifications

Having it underpinned by the Modular Rear Architecture (MRA) platform, the Cabriolet version of the CLE draws design cues from the new-generation C-Class and the new-generation E-Class. In terms of proportions, the convertible iteration is longer than the C-Class sedan, but slightly shorter than the E-Class.

However, the E-Class-inspired design elements include a larger grille with Mercedes-Benz’s signature shark-nose effect, a foldable fabric soft-top, and an elongated bonnet. It also incorporates sporty elements that can be seen on the front and rear bumpers, flairs, big air intakes, and AMG-Line-specific multi-spoke alloy wheels.

As far as the performance goes, the India-bound 2024 CLE Cabriolet is exclusive to the 300 variant. Under the hood, it is powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-charged petrol engine, paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. This engine setup is tuned to churn out 254bhp and 400Nm of peak torque.

The power is generated and delivered to all wheels, via the nine-speed torque converter automatic transmission, plus the company claims that this vehicle can sprint from 0-100kmph in 6.6 seconds. It has a maximum speed of 250km/h.

For reference, the international-spec CLE Cabriolet has multiple powertrain options, including a CLE 200 (201.2bhp), CLE 200d ((194bhp), CLE 300 4Matic (254bhp), and CLE 450 4Matic (374bhp). In addition to that, there is a CLE 450 4Matic variant that produces 374bhp.

Features

The CLE convertible’s interior is reminiscent of the C-Class, comprising an 11.9-inch vertically-positioned touchscreen infotainment unit, a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster, a 2+2 seating layout, and separate head airbags for rear passengers (first Mercedes-Benz Cabriolet to feature this safety setup).

Other notable features include LED lights (front and rear), 64-colour ambient lighting, wireless charging tray, park assist, ventilated seats, drive modes, telematics, memory seats, anti-glare mirrors (IRVM and ORVMs), and powered seats, among others. There is also a soft top, finished in a striking red colour. The soft top is operable up to 60km/h and completes the operation in 20 seconds.

The Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet carries an ex-showroom price of Rs 1.10 crore, directly rivalling the BMW Z4 M40i. Interested customers can book this vehicle via the website of Mercedes-Benz India.
