WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will let users plan and send messages later. The feature was found in an iPhone test version of the app. It has drawn attention because many users have asked for it for years. The messaging app discovered the feature in a recent test build offered through Apple’s TestFlight. The tool will let users pick the date and time a message is sent. This should help users send greetings, reminders and other texts without forgetting.

What The Scheduled Messages Feature Is

The new feature, called “scheduled messages,” appears in the app’s beta version. It shows up under chat settings in a section labelled “Scheduled Messages”. This section is just below other familiar options like media and starred messages.

Users can type a message and choose when it should be sent. Once set, WhatsApp will deliver it automatically at the chosen time. The feature is still being developed and is not yet available to the public or beta testers.

Why It Matters To Users

For years, WhatsApp users have tried workarounds to send messages in the future. They used other apps or phone shortcuts to plan messages. With a built-in feature, they will no longer need these tools.

The option may be useful for many things. Users can plan birthday wishes for midnight, send reminders to family or share work updates at a set time. It could be especially helpful for messages across time zones.

How It Compares And What To Expect

Other messaging platforms already offer message scheduling. For example, Google Messages and Telegram have long-standing scheduling tools. WhatsApp’s version may not yet match all advanced options, such as automatic repeats.

At present, WhatsApp has not given a launch date. The feature is expected to reach testers first. After that, it may be rolled out more widely later this year.
