I was just looking at the latest from MWC 2026, and Tecno is clearly trying to move past its “budget-only” reputation. They’ve just pulled the curtain back on the Camon 50 Series, and honestly, it’s a massive jump from last year’s lineup. What caught my eye immediately isn’t just the phones, but a pretty wild partnership with Tonino Lamborghini that includes everything from luxury-themed devices to what they’re calling the world’s smallest water-cooled gaming PC. It’s an ambitious play to blend high-end Italian design with some actually useful tech.

Design and Display

The first thing you’ll notice about the Camon 50 and 50 Pro is the screen. Tecno didn’t hold back here, giving both models a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a crisp 1.5K resolution. But the real kicker is the 144Hz refresh rate. To be honest, seeing that kind of fluid motion on a mid-range series is a huge win for anyone who spends their day scrolling or gaming. They’ve also gone a bit color-crazy this year—the Pro comes in six different finishes, including some sophisticated-sounding options like Nebula Titanium and Lavender Mist, while the standard model swaps a few of those for a Cream Mint shade. It’s clear they want these phones to look as premium as they feel.

Performance and Features

Under the hood, both phones are rocking the MediaTek Helio G200 Ultimate chipset and running the brand-new Android 16. While the standard model is plenty capable with 12GB of RAM, the Pro steps it up to 16GB, which is more than some laptops I know. If you’re into photography, the Pro is definitely the one to watch; it features a 50MP main sensor with OIS and a 50MP telephoto lens with 3X optical zoom.

Think of it this way: Tecno is trying to solve the two biggest headaches for mobile users—battery life and lag. They’ve packed in a massive 6,500mAh battery with 45W fast charging, which should easily get you through two days of heavy use. On the software side, they’ve partnered with Arm to introduce Edge-Side AIGC technology, which basically uses AI to fix that annoying screen flicker and lag you sometimes get when using real-time camera filters.

  • Screen: 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED, 144Hz refresh rate.

  • Power: MediaTek Helio G200 Ultimate, up to 16GB RAM.

  • Battery: 6,500mAh with 45W fast charging.

  • Extras: NFC, Dolby Atmos dual speakers, and an IR remote.

Beyond the phones, I’m actually really curious about their Modular Magnetic concept. It works a bit like MagSafe but for actual upgrades, allowing you to snap on external battery packs or even specialized camera lenses to change how the phone works on the fly. It’s a “concept” for now, but it shows Tecno is thinking way outside the box this year.

I’ll keep you updated as more details come out and we see how these modular ideas actually hold up in the real world.
