Bharti Airtel has announced a major upgrade to its 5G network in India. The new “True 5G” promises faster internet speeds and lower latency for users. According to a report by Beebom Gadgets, the rollout has already begun in select cities across the country.

The company said the upgrade aims to deliver a more responsive and stable internet experience. This is expected to benefit activities such as video streaming, gaming, and video calling, which depend on fast data transfers.

What Is True 5G?

Airtel’s True 5G uses a standalone (SA) network, unlike earlier non-standalone versions that relied on 4G infrastructure. The standalone setup uses a dedicated 5G core network. This allows the system to handle more users and data with less delay.

Lower latency means the time taken for data to travel between devices and servers is reduced. This improvement is important for real-time applications such as online gaming, cloud computing, and live video meetings.

Better Speed, Wider Reach

The upgrade also aims to boost download and upload speeds as it provides a smoother online experience. Airtel said its network will support modern technologies such as network slicing, which lets it create separate virtual networks for different needs.

The company plans to expand the True 5G service to more regions in phases throughout the year. Users with 5G-ready smartphones will be able to experience the upgraded network as it becomes available in their area.
