Xiaomi has officially entered the mid-size electric SUV race with the launch of the Xiaomi YU7, and the response has been nothing short of historic. Revealed on June 26, 2025, the SUV received over 2,00,000 orders within three minutes of launch. By the end of the first hour, bookings had climbed close to 2.9 lakh units, putting the YU7 directly in the spotlight as a strong rival to the Tesla Model Y.
Sleek Design With Practical Touches
The Xiaomi YU7 borrows styling elements from the SU7 sedan but adopts a sportier, coupe-like profile. It comes with a wide front grille, bold air intakes, connected LED light bar, and a sloping roofline that gives it a premium stance. Despite its performance-focused look, Xiaomi has kept practicality in mind with a roomy boot and flush door handles for added convenience.
Tech-Loaded Interior
Step inside, and the cabin is packed with tech. Dominating the dash is a 1.1-metre HyperVision display alongside a 16.1-inch central touchscreen, both powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip. The SUV runs on HyperOS, ensuring seamless integration with smartphones and Xiaomi’s wider smart ecosystem.
Other highlights include:

Power and Performance
The Xiaomi YU7 is offered in three versions: Standard (RWD), Pro (AWD), and Max (AWD). Battery choices include a 96.3kWh LFP pack from BYD and a 101kWh NMC pack from CATL, with driving ranges between 760km and 835km (CLTC).
Performance figures are equally impressive:
-
Standard RWD: 0–100 km/h in 5.9s, 835km range

Pro AWD: 0–100 km/h in 4.3s, 770km range
-
Max AWD: 0–100 km/h in 3.2s, 253 km/h top speed
The 800V charging architecture means just 12 minutes for a 10–80% top-up, or up to 620km of range in 15 minutes.
Pricing and Deliveries
Starting at RMB 253,500 (approx. ₹29.2 lakh), the Xiaomi YU7 price undercuts the Tesla Model Y significantly. Deliveries kicked off in July 2025, with Xiaomi already crossing 30,000 units in its first month on the road.
Global Ambitions
The YU7 proves Xiaomi is serious about its EV journey. With bold styling, tech-first interiors, competitive pricing, and strong performance figures, the SUV could challenge not only Tesla but also Hyundai, Kia, and Volkswagen EVs if it enters global markets. While export plans haven’t been confirmed yet, industry experts expect Xiaomi to expand the YU7’s reach beyond China soon.
