WhatsApp has rolled out its first set of group chat improvements of the year. The update includes three key features. These are Member Tags, Text Stickers and Event Reminders. The features are designed to make group chats easier to follow and more useful for planning and roles.

These updates were announced in an official WhatsApp blog post and are now being released to users worldwide. Read on to know the full details.

All About the New Group Chat Features

WhatsApp’s latest update focuses on making group chats clearer and more organised. The three newly launched tools are as follows:

  • Member Tags: Users can create custom labels for themselves in group chats. This helps identify roles or how people know each other (especially in large groups). It means someone could be labelled “Team Leader” in one chat and “Dad” in another.
  • Text Stickers: In this feature, any word can be turned into a sticker. By typing text into the sticker search, users can make personalised stickers and add them to their sticker packs without sending them first.
  • Event Reminders: When someone creates an event in a group chat, the organiser can now set early reminders for participants. This helps everyone remember to attend a party, meeting or call on time.

Why These Features Matter

These updates aim to make group conversations less confusing and more helpful. The feature help in the following ways:

  • Better Roles and Identity
  • More Expressive Chats
  • Improved Planning

How The Rollout Is Happening

The feature would reach users gradually as part of the regular update process. Not all users may see the new options immediately. WhatsApp will be releasing these features in stages to ensure stability and performance.
