It looks like Vivo is preparing to bring its new V70 smartphones to India sooner than expected. Several reports and leaks now point to a launch in the middle of February, with the company likely positioning the series in the premium segment just under Rs. 55,000.
While there is no official word from Vivo yet, leaksters have already shared details on what the V70 and V70 Elite might bring to the table. If the rumors are accurate, we are looking at a mix of serious battery power and high-end camera hardware.
Two Models, Two Different Chips
The main difference between the regular V70 and the ‘Elite’ version seems to be the processor.
Leaks suggest the top-tier V70 Elite will run on the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, which is a very capable chip close to flagship performance. The standard V70, meanwhile, is tipped to use the newer Snapdragon 7 Gen 4. This split makes sense: it allows Vivo to keep the standard model cheaper while offering a speed boost for those willing to pay extra for the Elite.
Both phones are expected to feature the same 6.59-inch AMOLED screen with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate.
A Massive Battery Upgrade
The most interesting detail in the leaks is actually the battery life. A recent regulatory filing spotted in Europe suggests the standard Vivo V70 could carry a huge 6,500mAh battery.
Most phones in this class stick to 5,000mAh, so this would be a significant jump. The listing also mentioned 55W wired charging and an IP68 rating, which means the phone should survive a dip in water.
Cameras Focus on Zoom
Vivo has built its reputation on cameras, and the V70 series appears to continue that trend. Renders show a square camera island on the back with three lenses.
The highlight here is a reported 50-megapixel telephoto lens tuned by Zeiss with 3x optical zoom. This is paired with a main 50-megapixel camera and an ultrawide lens. For colors, we’ve heard mentions of Passion Red, Lemon Yellow, and Black.
Market Context
If these specs are real, Vivo is trying to solve a specific problem in the mid-range market: battery anxiety.
By pairing a massive 6,500mAh battery with a proper zoom lens, the V70 could stand out against competitors like the OnePlus 12R, which focus mostly on raw speed. We will likely find out the confirmed Indian pricing and sale dates in the coming weeks.
