Vivo has finally introduced OriginOS 6 globally, officially replacing FunTouch OS. The new version of Vivo’s OS is based on Android 16 and has three focus points: smoothness, design and AI. There are several new features, like the Vivo Sans font, the new Origin Island (similar to Apple’s Dynamic Island), and much more. Here’s a closer look.

Vivo OriginOS 6 Features

OriginOS 6’s new Origin Smooth Engine ensures smoother operations. Vivo claims 18.5% faster computing, 106% faster file-read speed, and 35% faster dynamic effect rendering. Smoothness is further ensured with the Origin Animation System, which brings visual smoothness with motion effects such as Spring Animation, Blur Transition, Morphing Animation, and One Shot Animation.

Origin Design aims for a visually pleasing and intuitive experience with unified colours, icons, fonts, and more. There’s also the,

  • New Vivo Sans font (supports 40 languages)
  • Visual elements like Dynamic Glow and Translucent Color, similar to Apple’s Liquid Glass design.
  • Lock Screen and Home Screen Grids, which bring widget customisations and adaptive folders, respectively.
  • Flip Cards to show dynamic photos and a ‘living’ display when the phone is tilted, much like Apple’s StandBy feature.

Vivo has also added features like iManager to check the phone’s status and Origin Health, allowing people to track fitness. AI is at the heart of OriginOS 6 and introduces features like,

  • Upgraded Gemini and Circle to Search.
  • Origin Island to show notifications and more, much like Apple’s Dynamic Island.
  • Android 16’s Live Updates feature.
  • AI Retouch feature, which includes AI Erase, AI Image Expander, and AI Photo Enhance.
  • Handy tools like Smart Call Assistant, DocMaster, AI Creation, and AI Search.

Vivo focuses on the security and privacy of users with the Vivo Security brand. Additionally, there’s the BlueVolt technology for improved power efficiency and charging stability.
