Tecno has confirmed the arrival of its next budget-friendly smartphone, the Spark Go 3. The Chinese manufacturer announced on Friday that the handset will officially launch in India on January 16. An Amazon microsite is already live, giving us a clear look at the device’s design and key durability features.
A tougher build for the budget market
The biggest talking point for the Spark Go 3 seems to be its build quality. According to the Amazon listing, the phone will feature a flat metal frame, which is a rare premium touch in the entry-level segment that is usually dominated by plastic.
Tecno is marketing the device as surprisingly rugged. It comes with an IP64 rating, meaning it is protected against dust and water splashes. The company also claims the phone has been tested to survive drops from a height of 1.2 meters. In terms of aesthetics, it sports a pill-shaped camera island on the back and will be available in a blue color option.
Hardware and screen specs
On the front, the Spark Go 3 uses a large 6.67-inch HD+ LCD display. Notably, it supports a 120Hz refresh rate, ensuring smooth scrolling and animations.
Under the hood, the phone is powered by a Unisoc T7250 processor. It draws juice from a 5,000mAh battery, which has become the standard size for ensuring all-day battery life in 2026.
Software tricks: “Offline Calling”
Tecno is also touting a few unusual software features to help the phone stand out. The most intriguing is “offline calling,” which reportedly allows users to talk to other Tecno owners within a 1.5km range without needing a cellular signal. This likely works similarly to a walkie-talkie mode using peer-to-peer connectivity.
Additionally, the brand promises “4 years of lag-free performance,” suggesting they have optimized the software to prevent the phone from slowing down over time—a common complaint with cheap Android phones.
Market Impact & Context
The Spark Go 3 is replacing the Spark Go 2, which arrived in mid-2025 with a price tag starting around ₹6,999. If Tecno can keep the new model in that same sub-₹8,000 price bracket while adding a metal frame and IP rating, it poses a serious challenge to rivals like Redmi and Infinix. Durability is often a major selling point for first-time smartphone buyers, and Tecno seems to be doubling down on that requirement.
What comes next
The launch event is scheduled for 12 pm IST next Thursday. We expect the official pricing and full storage options to be revealed then.
