Tecno has confirmed the arrival of its new smartphone, the Tecno Pova Slim 5G, in India. The company is calling it the “World’s Slimmest 3D Curved Display 5G Smartphone”, and the launch is set for 4 September at 12 noon. Interestingly, this comes just days before Apple is expected to reveal its own slim phone, the iPhone 17 Air.
Inspired by Tecno’s Slim Concept
Earlier this year at MWC in Barcelona, Tecno unveiled a concept device called the Tecno Spark Slim, which measured just 5.75mm thick. Judging by teasers, the Tecno Pova Slim 5G seems to borrow heavily from that design, suggesting the concept is now being readied for the Indian market.
Thinnest Smartphone Battle
If the Pova Slim really does measure 5.75mm, it could be slimmer than the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge. But Apple’s iPhone 17 Air is also expected to arrive with a thickness of around 5.5mm, potentially making it even thinner. Buyers will also be comparing this launch to other upcoming flagships like the Apple iPhone 17e, Apple iPhone 17 Pro, Google Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Google Pixel 10 Pro.
What to Expect from Tecno Pova Slim 5G
Leaks and teasers suggest that the Tecno Pova Slim 5G will come with a 6.78-inch OLED display and support for a 144Hz refresh rate. Despite its slim frame, it’s likely to carry a 5,200mAh battery, which should offer solid backup for daily use.
For cameras, a 50MP primary sensor is expected, although details about the secondary sensor remain under wraps.
Design and Extra Touches
The teaser shows a sleek white curved frame with a horizontal bar housing the cameras. The setup includes a dual-camera system with a LED flash and a special white LED light that Tecno calls “Dynamic Mood Light.” This feature lights up during calls, notifications, and alerts, adding both flair and functionality to the design.
