It looks like Tecno is getting ready to drop a “major first” for 2026. I just spotted the Tecno Camon 50 and Camon 50 Pro on the Google Play Console, and the real shocker isn’t just the hardware—it’s the software.
If these listings are accurate, we’re looking at some of the first mid-range devices to ship with Android 16 right out of the box. Considering Android 16 is still fresh on the scene, this gives Tecno a massive head start on the competition.
Tecno Camon 50 & 50 Specification
To be honest, that extra space in the “pill” is probably for better portrait sensors or a second camera. Both models stick with a sharp Full-HD+ resolution at 1,080×2,364 pixels.
Both phones run the MediaTek Helio G99 with 8GB of RAM. It’s a dependable setup, but the real kicker is getting Android 16 and HiOS right out of the box. Honestly, it’s rare to see a mid-range phone jump on the newest software so quickly.
The Helio G99 has been around for a while, but pairing it with 8GB of RAM and the latest Android version makes it clear that Tecno is betting on daily reliability over raw gaming power. To be honest, most of us just want a phone that stays smooth and stays updated, and this seems to hit that mark.
A New Physical Button?
Here’s the “unexpected leak” part: the renders show the usual volume and power keys on the right, but there’s a new button on the left spine. I’m betting this is a dedicated “Action Button” or a shortcut for Tecno’s new AI features. It’s a small touch, but it could really change how you interact with the phone on the fly.
When Can You Get One?
Since these just hit the Google Play databases, a launch is right around the corner. I’d keep your eyes on Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 in February. Tecno loved that stage for the Camon 40 last year, and it’s the perfect spot to debut their Android 16 lineup.
