Tata Motors is gearing up to reintroduce one of its most iconic names — the Tata Sierra — in an all-new avatar. The company has released fresh teasers and official images of the upcoming five-door SUV, giving us the clearest look yet at what’s coming. This follows earlier glimpses that showed off the interior, including a unique triple-screen dashboard layout.
A Modern Take on a Classic
The new Tata Sierra doesn’t just revive a beloved name; it completely reimagines it. Gone is the boxy, retro silhouette of the 2000s model. Instead, Tata has given the Sierra a bold, futuristic design that aligns with the brand’s latest design philosophy.
At first glance, the SUV looks sharp and sophisticated — thanks to an all-LED lighting setup, featuring sleek headlamps and full-width lightbars at both the front and rear. The styling is further enhanced by blacked-out ORVMs and C-pillars, flush door handles, dual-tone alloy wheels, and a shark-fin antenna.
The panoramic sunroof is another highlight, adding to the sense of space inside the cabin. Tata has also retained the Sierra’s signature “infinite window” design element, now modernized to give passengers more light and an airy, lounge-like feel.
Tech-Loaded Interior
Step inside, and the Sierra’s cabin looks nothing short of premium. Tata is going big on in-car technology — the SUV will feature a triple-screen setup across the dashboard. This includes a fully digital instrument cluster, a large central infotainment display, and a dedicated screen for the front passenger.
This configuration is a first for any Tata Motors vehicle and puts the Sierra right up there with global rivals in terms of interior innovation. For reference, a similar setup can currently be seen in the Mahindra XEV 9e, which has been making waves in the Indian market.
Adding to the futuristic vibe, the illuminated Tata logo on the steering wheel — seen on recent Tata EVs — makes a return here as well. The latest teaser even shows the SUV in a striking red shade, a change from the earlier yellow prototype.
Engine and Electric Options
Under the hood, the Tata Sierra is expected to offer multiple powertrain options, catering to both traditional and modern buyers. The lineup may include:
-
A 2.0-litre diesel engine (borrowed from the Tata Harrier)
-
A 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine
-
A 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol option
And yes — Tata has officially confirmed plans for a fully electric Sierra as well. That version is expected to join the lineup later, positioning the SUV as a strong contender in India’s growing EV segment.
The Return of a Legend
For many, the Tata Sierra is more than just a car — it’s nostalgia on wheels. And now, with modern styling, cutting-edge tech, and the promise of an electric future, Tata Motors seems ready to bring the legend back for a whole new generation of drivers.
