Spotify is making it easier than ever to share your favorite tracks, albums, and podcasts — this time through WhatsApp Status.
The streaming giant has officially rolled out a new feature for Android users, allowing them to post music directly to their WhatsApp Status, similar to how sharing works with Instagram and Facebook Stories.
Share Music Straight from Spotify to WhatsApp
In a new blog post, Spotify confirmed that users can now share songs, playlists, podcasts, albums, artist clips, and even audiobooks to WhatsApp. The shared content stays live on your Status for 24 hours, just like any regular update.
Here’s how it works: when you tap the Share button next to a song or playlist inside the Spotify app, you’ll now see WhatsApp as an option. Selecting it will automatically create a WhatsApp Status that displays the track title, cover art, and an “Open on Spotify” link.
Even better — viewers will hear a 30-second audio preview of the shared content before opening it in Spotify.
The update is rolling out globally for both free and Premium users, and Spotify says the new WhatsApp option will gradually appear in everyone’s share menu over the next few weeks.
Spotify Expands Sharing Options Across Social Apps
The WhatsApp integration is just one part of Spotify’s bigger plan to make sharing music more social and seamless.
The company has also introduced a new Spotify Messages feature, which lets users send songs, podcasts, and audiobooks directly to friends within the Spotify app — no external chat needed.
On Instagram, the platform is getting smarter too. Users will now be able to listen to short audio previews when someone shares a track in their Story. Spotify is also rolling out the ability to share what you’re currently listening to in Instagram Notes, so your friends can see your latest musical obsession right from the top of their DMs.
But it doesn’t stop there — Spotify is also partnering with TikTok to bring similar sharing options, allowing TikTok users to post Spotify content directly to their feeds or stories. A similar update is also coming to Snapchat, where users can share a Spotify clip to Snap Stories or send it privately via chat.
Why It Matters
With this update, Spotify is turning music sharing into a more connected, multi-platform experience. Whether you’re flexing your playlist on WhatsApp, teasing a new favorite song on Instagram, or sharing a podcast on TikTok — Spotify wants to make sure your soundtracks move with you everywhere.
