Samsung and Mahindra have teamed up to introduce a new way for drivers to access their vehicles in India. Starting with Mahindra’s upcoming Electric Origin SUVs, select Galaxy smartphone users can now unlock, lock, and even start their cars using just their phones through the Samsung Wallet app.
This makes Mahindra the first Indian automaker to integrate Samsung’s Digital Car Key technology, giving its customers a futuristic, keyless driving experience.
How It Works
The feature is being rolled out for Mahindra’s XEV 9e and BE 6 electric SUVs. Once a Galaxy device is paired, it essentially replaces the physical key, becoming the primary access point for the car. Owners can even share a digital key with family or friends for a limited period and revoke it whenever they like, adding flexibility to everyday use.
Focus on Security
Samsung has built several layers of security into the system. If a phone with a Digital Car Key is lost or stolen, owners can lock or erase the device remotely using Samsung’s Find service. Access to the key is further protected by PINs or biometric authentication, while Samsung Knox provides enterprise-grade security at the app level.
Part of a Bigger Ecosystem
For Samsung, this move fits into its larger strategy of expanding connected experiences across the Galaxy ecosystem. For Mahindra, it’s about adding convenience and innovation for its eSUV customers.
The Digital Car Key feature officially launched in India on October 29, 2025, with more Mahindra models expected to support it in the future.
