Many industry watchers expected Samsung to announce the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 during its July Galaxy Unpacked event alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Instead, the company surprised fans by unveiling only a new colour variant of the existing model. Now, fresh leaks are offering clarity on Samsung’s updated release roadmap, suggesting that the next-generation Galaxy Watch Ultra may launch later than originally anticipated.
Revised Launch Timeline
According to a new report from Dutch publication GalaxyClub, Samsung is actively working on the successor to the current Galaxy Watch Ultra. The smartwatch is now rumored to launch in the summer of 2026, aligning with Samsung’s mid-year product showcase. If this timeline holds true, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 could debut alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8.
The upcoming wearable is also expected to launch around the same time as the Galaxy Watch 9, with several internal specifications reportedly shared between the two models. Interestingly, internal documentation refers to the new wearable as the Galaxy Watch 9 Ultra, mirroring the naming pattern from the original device, which was internally labeled the “Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra” before being released simply as the Galaxy Watch Ultra. Despite these internal codenames, the commercial name is still expected to be Galaxy Watch Ultra 2.
Leaks further suggest that the new model may feature a larger battery, enhancing its durability and performance for outdoor and fitness-focused users.
What’s Available Right Now
While fans wait for the next-generation model, Samsung has kept its current lineup appealing with fresh colour options. Earlier this July, the company released a new Titanium Blue variant of the Galaxy Watch Ultra. This joins the existing Titanium Silver, Titanium Grey, and Titanium White colourways that have been available since the original launch in 2024.
For reference, the current Galaxy Watch Ultra features:
-
A 1.5-inch Super AMOLED display
-
A rugged 47mm titanium case
-
590mAh battery with wireless fast charging
-
2GB RAM + 64GB storage
-
IP68 rating
-
10ATM water resistance
-
MIL-STD 810H military-grade durability
Designed for durability and outdoor performance, the watch has been well-received by users looking for a tougher alternative within Samsung’s wearable ecosystem.
