The next generation of Samsung’s Galaxy S series is just a few months away, and leaks are already painting a picture of what to expect. This year, Samsung may be making a small but noticeable change to its lineup. Rumors suggest that the base Galaxy S26 5G model could be rebranded as the Galaxy S26 Pro 5G.
But despite the new “Pro” label, don’t expect a huge leap in camera hardware. Early reports suggest that Samsung may stick with a familiar triple-camera setup, similar to what we’ve seen on previous base S series models.
What Cameras Might Be Coming
For years now, Samsung’s entry-level S series phones have carried the same reliable combination:
-
50MP main camera
-
12MP ultrawide camera
-
10MP telephoto camera
According to leaks, the Galaxy S26 Pro 5G may continue with this formula.
Sensor Details From Leaks
A tipster named Erencan Yılmaz shared fresh details on X (formerly Twitter), apparently dug out from Samsung’s upcoming One UI 8.5 software. The leaks suggest the following sensors could be used:
-
Main camera: Samsung S5KGN3
-
Telephoto: Samsung S5K3K1
-
Ultrawide: Sony IMX564
-
Front camera: Samsung S5K3LU
Interestingly, these are the same sensors that Samsung has reportedly used in recent generations of its base Galaxy S models. This means that while the phone may get a new name, the hardware itself isn’t likely to see a dramatic upgrade.
What This Means for Buyers
If the leaks are accurate, Samsung seems to be playing it safe with the Galaxy S26 Pro 5G. The cameras will probably deliver the same solid results users are familiar with, but fans hoping for big hardware changes may have to look at the higher-end models in the lineup.
