Samsung has added a new member to its Galaxy A series in India – the Galaxy A17 5G. This smartphone takes over from the Galaxy A16, which arrived in October last year. With a large 5,000mAh battery, support for 25W fast-charging, and a triple-camera setup led by a 50MP main lens, the new phone is designed to offer solid everyday performance. Powering it all is an Exynos chipset, tuned for efficiency.
Price and Availability in India
The Samsung Galaxy A17 is available in three colour options – Gray, Blue, and Black – giving buyers some fresh choices. It comes in three configurations:
-
6GB + 128GB: Rs 18,999
-
8GB + 128GB: Rs 20,499
-
8GB + 256GB: Rs 23,999
On top of that, Samsung is offering an instant discount of Rs 1,000 for customers using select bank cards.
Key Specifications
The Galaxy A17 5G features a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with a smooth 90Hz refresh rate and a teardrop notch. Durability is taken care of with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.
At the core, it runs on the Samsung Exynos 1330 SoC and offers up to 8GB of RAM along with 256GB of internal storage. Software support looks promising too, as it ships with OneUI 7 based on Android 15, and Samsung has committed to five major Android upgrades.
For cameras, the rear houses a 50MP wide-angle lens, a 5MP ultrawide lens, and a 2MP macro lens, while the front gets a 13MP camera for selfies and video calls. Security is handled by a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and there’s support for dual nano-SIM through a hybrid slot.
What’s Next from Samsung
The launch of the Galaxy A17 5G is only part of the company’s plans. On September 4 at 5:30 AM ET (3 PM IST), Samsung will hold its final big event of the year. The lineup includes the Galaxy S25 FE smartphone and the Galaxy Tab S11 series. The event will also mark the debut of OneUI 8, Samsung’s next big software update.
