Reliance Jio, India’s largest telecom service provider (TSP), has quietly removed its Rs. 799 recharge plan from the My Jio app. The plan was popular among prepaid users since it offered 1.5GB of high-speed data per day, a validity of 84 days, unlimited calling, and 100 SMS messages each day — adding up to 126GB of data in total. This change comes soon after Airtel raised the price of its Rs. 249 plan to Rs. 299, hinting at a broader round of tariff adjustments across the industry.

What Happened to the Rs. 799 Plan?

According to tipster Abhishek Yadav, the Rs. 799 recharge plan is no longer available on the My Jio app, a fact also confirmed by Gadgets 360. Interestingly, though, the plan is still listed on Reliance Jio’s official website, which means subscribers can recharge from there for now.

Currently, the cheapest option on the app that offers 1.5GB data per day with 84 days of validity is the Rs. 889 plan.

Comparing the Rs. 799 and Rs. 889 Plans

The discontinued Rs. 799 recharge plan gave users unlimited calling, 100 SMS per day, access to JioTV, JioAICloud, and a total of 126GB data over 84 days.

The Rs. 889 recharge plan offers exactly the same benefits, but for Rs. 90 more, it also includes a Jio Saavn Pro subscription.

Airtel’s Recent Price Hike

This update comes right after Airtel discontinued its Rs. 249 plan, revising the price to Rs. 299. That plan had 24 days of validity, offered 1GB of data per day, unlimited calls (local, STD, and roaming), and 100 SMS messages daily. Airtel also bundled features like real-time spam alerts for calls and messages, along with other add-on services.
